About the Nest

PXL_20260815_202752406_edited.jpg

The Reading Nest was created with a pretty simple idea: Cedarburg needed a bookstore.

But from the beginning, I wanted it to be more than shelves filled with books. I wanted to create the kind of place you wander into just to see what’s new, stay a little longer than you planned, and eventually start to feel like it’s your bookstore.

At The Nest, you’ll find a thoughtfully chosen mix of new and used books for readers of all ages. Bestsellers you’ve been waiting for, unexpected finds you didn’t know you needed, and plenty of books I just couldn’t resist putting on the shelf (because I absolutely do judge a book by its cover).

You’ll also find story times, book gatherings, special events, and lots of reasons to come back and see what’s happening.

Most of all, I hope The Reading Nest feels warm, welcoming and personal. A place with good books and a little Blues in the background. A place where we learn your name, remember what you like to read, and are genuinely happy to see you walk through the door.

At last, a bookstore for Cedarburg.

Your favorite little corner of town.

Meet the Bookseller

Hi, I’m Kristin, the reader, bird and cat lover, shelf re-arranger, and occasional over-orderer behind The Reading Nest.

Opening a bookstore wasn’t exactly the plan. I’m a Realtor by day, lifelong reader always, and somewhere along the way  (usually during a late night Cribbage game) I got tired of saying, “Cedarburg really needs a bookstore.” Eventually I decided maybe I should stop talking about it and open one.

I love the kind of books you can’t stop telling people about, beautiful covers I have absolutely no business buying but do anyway, naturey books , and helping someone find exactly the right book, especially when they didn’t know what they were looking for when they walked in.

When I’m not at The Nest, you’ll probably find me with my family, somewhere near the water, my Merlin app scrolling beside me, or volunteering at the Cedarburg American Legion, or convincing myself I have time for *just one more* project.

Mostly, I’m just incredibly happy to be the person who gets to bring a bookstore back to Cedarburg, and even happier every time someone walks through the door and takes a seat to take a long look at a book, or watching kids explore books by the Story Tree.

Come say hi. And tell me what you’re reading.

Meet Chuck

Every bookstore needs a resident bird. Ours just happens to have opinions about books.

Chuck the Chickadee (also answers to Chuck-a-dee) is The Reading Nest’s unofficial mascot, frequent shelf inspector, and occasional source of questionable book recommendations. You’ll usually find him perched somewhere around The Nest,  although our younger readers have discovered he has a habit of wandering.

Keep an eye out. You never know where Chuck might turn up next.
